Bradenton area is closely monitoring developments surrounding the Louisiana oil spill in
the northern Gulf of Mexico, and to date the threat of landfall remains
confined to a comparatively small stretch in the extreme northwest corner of
the state and possibly in the Florida Keys and up the Atlantic coast. Florida
has more than 2,200 miles of coastline in all---including the Bradenton area’s
27 miles of white sand beaches---and like the vast majority of Florida
